Dean Googasian’s chronicle

Class action lawsuits are a powerful tool when it comes to voicing people’s concern and complaints. Wikipedia defines it as:

‘In law, a class action or a representative action is a form of lawsuit where a large group of people collectively bring a claim to court. This form of collective lawsuit originated in the United States and …changes have in recent years been made that allow consumer organizations to bring claims on behalf of large groups of consumers’.

Considering the considerable number of people involved, it is apparent that this is not something to fool around with as if the lawsuit is nullified by the court, defendant has every right to sue the law firm and class involved in the case and demand compensation for defamation and cost incurred by the defendant.

When Dean Googasian filed a class action lawsuit against Belford University, it brought upon itself hordes of questions and suspicions in context with its intention. Associated with a legal firm that claims to strive for social justice, Dean Googasian mocks the claim rather comically.

Life experienced based degree awarding body, Belford High School awards diplomas on the basis of work experience that a student gathers over a period of time that makes him equivalent in terms of knowledge and expertise to a student enrolled in traditional schooling setup for diploma.

As there is no imparting of education, scamming is out of question. This allegation becomes baseless when confronted with terms and conditions that are clearly listed on www.belfordhighschool.com. Thus, this accusation is an illusion and should have been apparent to Dean as it is to even a common man.

Secondly, when Dean planned to make some money out of Belford, the least he should have done is some concrete research so as to ascertain his goal’s availability. As it happens, the inept lawyer was too confident of himself and overlooked a basic fact-Belford doesn’t fall in US jurisdiction and thus cannot be entertained by a US court. Claiming to be a lawyer and pointing finger at Belford’s credentials, how about we ask him to prove his education and experience as his petty antics don’t support either claims.

Moreover, this case won’t only return as a question to Googasian but will also jeopardize the class involved-which mainly consists of naïve students who are unaware of the peril they have brought upon themselves.

Being a Belford alumni, I can totally attest to their worth and once the case goes through the court, Googasian will realize Belford’s worth and their mistake both!
